# About Hotly -- Why we built this

Hotly is for creators who want to make a living from what they love. Not just content *from* it.

## The belief

Creativity deserves real compensation. And it deserves to come from the people who already love what you do -- not from a platform renting them back to you, and not from an algorithm deciding who sees you this week.

## Three principles

**I. The audience is already there.** You don't need a million more followers. You need a way for the ones you have to pay you for being real with them.

**II. Attention ≠ income.** Views, likes, and reach are signals. Subscribers who write to you are revenue. Different things. We build the second one.

**III. The tools should shrink.** Every platform wants more of your time, more of your life. Hotly wants one day. Six days off. That's the point.

## Who Hotly is for

The makers: dancers, musicians, writers, artists, performers, poets, filmmakers, designers, photographers, curators, chefs. Anyone with a point of view and an audience that already loves them.

## How Hotly works

**Start where you are.** Some start with Penpal. Some with Dome. Some with just a link in bio.

**Grow when you want.** Hire Sadie when the operation gets big. Add a Dome when you're ready to build a list. The tools meet you at your pace.

**Leave if you want.** Your fans, your list, your emails -- yours. Export them anytime. We're the infrastructure, not the gatekeeper.

## The team

A party of four:

- **Bhavneet (Engineering)** -- Deploys on Wednesdays, never Fridays. Off the clock, he's cooking.
- **Kimora (Marketing)** -- Northeastern grad. Thinks a brand is a cultural movement, not an advertisement.
- **Saloni (Design)** -- Architect by degree, designer by trade. Ships straight to production in Next.js.
- **Ray (Product)** -- Writes every subject line by hand. Thinks marketing is just telling the truth, early.

We built Hotly for the creators we wish we'd had this for ten years ago. We use it ourselves. We reply on our own reply days.
