Fanfix fees in 2026: what you keep and who sets prices

Fanfix keeps 20% of every fan payment, across memberships, messages and locked content, so creators keep 80%. Fanfix also sets membership prices and the minimum price for messages and locked content. On the fan's side, its payment terms add a 13% surcharge on credit cards, and banks abroad may charge fans about 3% more.

What 20% looks like in dollars

Fanfix's creator terms keep this short. You receive 80% of what fans pay (section 3.1), and Fanfix keeps "the remaining 20% of every transaction" (section 3.2). That covers memberships, messages, locked content and its other paid features. The terms list no monthly fee.

Here's what you'd keep each month, next to Hotly's two hosted plans with their monthly price counted. You keep 80% on Hosted ($5.99 a month) and 90% on Hosted Plus ($9.99 a month).

The small print

  • Small months favor Fanfix. Hosted Plus pulls ahead once fans pay you about $100 a month. Hosted is the same 20% plus $5.99, so on fees alone it doesn't beat Fanfix.
  • Stripe's fees are on us. Hotly's monthly price and commission cover Stripe's card fees, hosting and upkeep. Nothing else comes out of your share.
  • Invite creators and it drops. The commission halves for every 5 creators you invite who join and pay, down to 5%.
  • Only what you move changes. Anything you keep selling on Fanfix still pays Fanfix's 20%.

What fans pay on top

Fanfix's payment terms add a 13% surcharge on all credit cards (section 1.5). So if fans pay $2,000 for your messages in a month, all by card, they're charged $2,260.

Fanfix's creator terms also note that some banks charge fans abroad a foreign transaction fee, usually about 3% (section 3.1d). That one is the fan's bank, not Fanfix, and it can happen anywhere a fan's card is charged in another currency, Hotly included.

On Hotly, the fan pays your price. There's no fee line on top, because Stripe's fee comes out of Hotly's cut.

Who sets your prices

On Fanfix, Fanfix does. It decides what memberships cost (section 2.2) and sets the minimum price for each direct message (section 2.3) and piece of locked content (section 2.4). You can price above the minimums. For any of them you can ask for a change, and Fanfix can accept or turn it down.

On Hotly, you do. Every price is yours, from $1 up. Fans usually pay $5–$20 weekly to write to you, and you can go higher or lower.

When you get paid

Fanfix gives two answers. Its FAQ says earnings are processed every Wednesday and usually reach your bank on Friday, with some countries taking 3 to 7 days longer, and you can change the day and interval. Its creator terms say about 30 days after each calendar month ends, or on another schedule Fanfix offers (section 3.1a). Weekly payouts are a real plus for Fanfix.

On Hotly, your share is paid out through Stripe to your bank, with no payout fee, from $1.

Getting in

Fanfix calls itself invite-only. Every application is reviewed, you need verified social handles, and you must be 18 or older.

Hotly has no application. Pick a plan, add a card, and your page can be live the same day, with 30 days free.

Keep Fanfix for posts. Give conversations their own link.

Fanfix does things Hotly doesn't. It has a large creator network and a membership product, and if your members are happy there, there's no reason to move them.

Hotly is premium conversations: fans pay to write to you, you set the price, and you reply when it suits you. You can run both: posts and memberships stay on Fanfix, and paid conversations get their own link.

One rule to know first. Fanfix's creator terms say you can't use your Fanfix account to promote other monetization platforms (section 2.5), and Fanfix can hold back that month's earnings if you do (section 3.1c). So your Hotly link goes in your Instagram or TikTok bio, not on Fanfix. Read section 2.5 yourself before you post about any other platform there.

Questions

How much does Fanfix take from creators?
20% of every fan payment, across memberships, messages and locked content. Creators keep 80%, and the terms list no monthly fee (creator terms, sections 3.1 and 3.2).
Does Fanfix charge fans extra?
Yes. Its payment terms add a 13% surcharge on credit cards, and fans abroad may also pay their own bank about 3%. On Hotly, fans pay your price with nothing added.
Is Fanfix worth it?
It can be. If memberships are most of what you sell, and you want its creator network and weekly payouts, it's built for that. Weigh that against Fanfix setting your membership prices and minimums, and card-paying fans paying 13% more.
Is Hotly cheaper than Fanfix?
It depends on the plan. Hosted Plus ($9.99 a month plus 10%) keeps you more once fans pay you about $100 a month: at $2,000 you'd keep $1,790 against $1,600 on Fanfix. Hosted ($5.99 a month plus 20%) doesn't beat Fanfix on fees. On either plan, fans pay no surcharge. Stripe's fees are on us.
Do I have to leave Fanfix to use Hotly?
No. Keep Fanfix for posts and memberships, and give paid conversations their own Hotly link. Share it from Instagram or TikTok, since Fanfix's terms bar promoting other platforms on your Fanfix account.
